Harvest Hosts Review: Is It Worth The Cost?
Tired of pulling into the same overcrowded RV parks with identical gravel pads and noisy neighbors?
We were too. After one especially restless night sandwiched between a barking dog and a gas station floodlight, we knew we needed a better option. Something that felt like a break in the drive, not just a place to park.
That’s when we found Harvest Hosts. We’ve used it for dozens of stays over the past few years. From sipping local wine (ok Alan still had beer) at a vineyard in Missouri to waking up on a peaceful Midwestern farm, it’s become one of the few memberships we always renew. And one we keep recommending to fellow RVers.
In this honest review, I’ll explain how Harvest Hosts works, who it’s best for, what it actually costs, and what to expect before you book your first stay. I’ll also share the biggest pros and cons from our personal experience to help you decide if it’s right for you.

What Is Harvest Hosts?
Harvest Hosts is an annual membership program that connects RVers with small businesses like wineries, breweries, farms, museums, and golf courses that offer overnight RV parking without a nightly camping fee.
In exchange for the free stay, members are encouraged to support the host in some way. That could mean buying a bottle of wine, trying a product the business makes or sells, or helping out with a light task around the farm. It’s all about showing appreciation to the hosts and keeping the program sustainable for everyone.
We’ve used Harvest Hosts all across the country… everything from quiet farmland in the Midwest to a winery in Missouri with stunning views.

One of our favorite stops? A steakhouse that served one of the best dinners we’ve had on the road. These aren’t just parking spots; they’re part of the adventure.

How Much Does Harvest Hosts Cost?
Harvest Hosts offers three membership tiers so you can choose the level that fits your travel style:
- Classic Plan – $99/year
Access to more than 5,000 unique stays at wineries, farms, breweries, museums, and other small businesses. - Classic + Boondockers Welcome – $169/year
Everything in the Classic Plan plus access to thousands of private hosts across the country through the Boondockers Welcome program. - All Access Plan – $179/year
Includes everything from both networks, along with access to golf course stays, advanced search filters, and a free membership to Escapees RV Club. This can be especially valuable for full-time RVers.
Your membership includes your household and rig, whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with a family. There are no extra camping fees, and you can use the platform as often as you want.
Most Harvest Hosts allow one-night stays, though some do permit longer visits if you ask in advance. We’ve only ever stayed one night ourselves, but we’ve met other RVers who have been welcomed to stay multiple nights.

Harvest Hosts vs Boondockers Welcome
These two programs are often compared and for good reason. Both offer unique overnight RV stays, but they serve slightly different needs.
Harvest Hosts connects you with small businesses like wineries, farms, and breweries. There’s no camping fee, but you’re encouraged to support the host by making a purchase or engaging with their business.
Boondockers Welcome offers free overnight parking on private property. Hosts may be RVers or landowners, and some offer hookups for a small fee. You must be self-contained. If this sounds more up your alley, you can purchase a Boondockers Welcome Membership here.
Want the best of both worlds? The All Access plan gives you access to both networks.

How Does Harvest Hosts Work?
Once you sign up for a membership, you’ll get access to the online directory and app, where you can browse over 5,800 host locations.
We personally prefer using the map view to search in a specific area where we think we want to stop. You can also filter results based on your rig length, whether you travel with pets, and the type of location you’re looking for. Each listing includes photos, reviews, amenities, and host details.
When you find a place that looks like a good fit, you can request a stay directly through the app or website. Most hosts respond within a day, and many approve same-day requests if there’s availability. In fact, there are some hosts that mention same day approvals until 5pm.

The arrival and check-in process varies by host. Some will meet you when you arrive, while others will include parking instructions in the approval message. Either way, they’ll give you the details you need to get settled quickly and respectfully.

Who Harvest Hosts Is Best For
Harvest Hosts is a great fit for RVers who are self-contained and love discovering unique places along the way. If you prefer quiet nights on a vineyard over rows of RVs at a campground, this membership might be your new favorite travel tool.
You’ll love it if you:
- Enjoy supporting small businesses during your travels
- Don’t always want to stay in traditional RV parks
- Like scenic, peaceful overnight stops with character
- Are looking for affordable ways to break up long drive days
- Want to meet locals and hear their stories
You do need to be fully self-contained with your own bathroom and water system since most locations do not offer full hookups. A few may provide water or electricity for a small fee, but it’s not the norm.

If you love discovering hidden gems and prefer experiences over amenities, Harvest Hosts could be a perfect match.

Is Harvest Hosts Worth It?
Absolutely! After years of RV travel, Harvest Hosts remains one of the few memberships we continue to renew and recommend.
It adds something special to our road trips, whether that’s a peaceful farm stay, a scenic vineyard visit, or simply a break from crowded campgrounds.
We have been members for several years now and still find it worth every penny. That is why we keep recommending it to fellow RVers who want more than just another standard overnight stop.

Honestly, we don’t think you’ll use it. But if you try a few stays and realize you’d rather be in a crowded campground with full hookups and a neon sign out front, you can get your money back. No hassle. No questions.
That said, if you’re anything like us, you’ll be too busy sipping wine at a vineyard or chatting with a host on their family farm to ever think about canceling.
