Ozarks Landing RV Resort: What to Know Before You Book

When most people think of Lake of the Ozarks, they picture boating weekends, crowded docks, and parties on the water. But nestled along a much calmer stretch of the Osage River, we found a campground that offers something quieter with water views, community events, and easy access to nearby attractions.

We spent three nights at Ozarks Landing RV Resort in May 2025, booking a premium back-in waterfront site with full hookups (FHU) for $214. Our site came with a private deck and picnic table that overlooked the river; this was the perfect place for morning coffee or evening wine. Okay, let’s be real… for us it was energy drinks and bud light. 😄

In this post, we’re sharing the real deal on what it’s like to stay here: what we loved, what felt cramped, and who we think this RV park is best (and least) suited for. If you’re RVing through Lake of the Ozarks and looking for a quiet riverside campground, here’s what you should know before booking a stay at Ozarks Landing.

Location & First Impressions

Ozarks Landing RV Resort is located at 398 Wood River Road, Lake Ozark, MO 65049 which is just off US-54. It’s close enough to Lake of the Ozarks attractions to be convenient but far enough away to feel calm and quiet. It is the perfect spot if you want river access without the constant party vibe.

The campground sits on a relatively compact piece of land with RV sites lined up in tight rows between grassy strips, mature trees, and some large boulders. While the entrance is not especially grand, it is easy to find using GPS and is clearly marked with signage.

We arrived on a weekday in May 2025 and the park was pretty full. After checking in and chatting with some of our neighbors, we were not surprised about the number of campers since they book both nightly and long-term stays.

The general store is positioned at the entrance, along with a pavilion and event board that gives the place a bit of a “campground community” feel.

First impressions? Friendly, relaxed, and definitely more “laid-back local spot” than upscale “resort.”

Campsites, Layout & Map

If you know anything about Morgan, you know she loves to be by the water. So we booked a Premium Waterfront Back-In site with 50 Amp Full Hookups (FHU) and it was definitely the highlight of our stay.

Each of these riverside spots comes with a wooden deck and a picnic table, offering a peaceful view of the Osage River. It is ideal for hanging out between adventures or for watching the water roll by.

But let’s talk logistics: these sites are tight!

When we say tight, we mean we literally had to ask the folks across from us to move their cars just so we could swing our 44’ fifth wheel into place…

According to the resort, our site was supposed to be 50 feet long and while it technically was, maneuvering in and out was no joke. If you’re towing anything over 35 feet, be ready to use every inch of your driving skills and possibly your neighbors’ goodwill.

The spacing between sites felt like it was optimized for maximum capacity, not ease of use. There are large boulders and down logs placed between many of the sites most likely to protect the grass.

These elements made turns and parking even more of a puzzle.

Once you’re in, you’re golden. But getting in… that’s the part that can be stressful.

If you’re a visual person, here’s a look at the campground map with our site marked so you can get a better feel for the layout and location.

Amenities & Onsite Features

For a smaller campground, Ozarks Landing RV Resort packs in quite a few amenities. Whether you’re staying for a night, a weekend, or planning a longer visit, here’s what you can expect:

Stocked Fishing Pond

The fishing pond is stocked and there are some BIG fish. It is catch and release but can still be a fun way to spend the afternoon.

The boat ramp and community dock are located near the tent camping sites.

Ozarks Landing RV Resort is Pet Friendly

If you’re traveling with pets, Ozarks Landing RV Resort is pet-friendly… but be prepared to follow their rules. Pets must be leashed at all times, cannot be left outside unattended, and barking is not allowed.

If your pet disturbs others or shows aggression, you may be asked to leave without a refund. And yes, like usual, you must pick up after your dog (💩), In fact, the rules say they will fine you $50 if you don’t!

While the grass around individual RV sites is limited, there are several larger green spaces scattered throughout the campground where you can walk your dog or let them stretch their legs a bit.

Since we are full-time RVers and have a fur-child, we obviously brought Coco with us. She had a great time sniffing around the property and checking out the river breezes.

But here’s the deal – May is tick season in Missouri. Even with monthly preventative flea, tick, and heartworm treatments, we still pulled 15–20 ticks off Coco during our 3-day stay at Ozarks Landing.

If you’re coming in the spring, you’ll definitely want to do regular tick checks and maybe keep your pup away from the brushier areas near the river.

Bonus wildlife sightings: While walking around the campground, we also spotted a turtles in the pond, some ducks, a black snake (don’t worry – they are harmless!), and even a couple of groundhogs.

Nothing aggressive — just fun little reminders that you’re camping right in nature’s backyard.

Events & Extra Perks

One thing that sets Ozarks Landing RV Resort apart from your average RV park is their community vibe.

During our stay, they offered a free Mother’s Day breakfast for all guests. It was a thoughtful surprise that made the campground feel more like a neighborhood gathering than just a place to park.

Throughout the season, they host a variety of events including:

  • Live music nights
  • Watermelon eating contests
  • A charity fish fry and fishing derby

Most of these take place at the covered pavilion, which is located near the entrance and serves as the social hub of the campground. If you’re the kind of traveler who enjoys meeting fellow RVers and participating in low-key events, this is a great spot.

Overall Vibe & Who It’s Best For

Ozarks Landing RV Resort strikes a balance between laid-back and lively, but we wouldn’t call it a “resort” in the traditional sense. While it has nice features like riverfront views, a pool, and scheduled events, the tight site layout and limited maneuverability keep it firmly in the “cozy campground” category for us.

This place is best for:

  • Small to mid-size RVs
  • Families with kids
  • Pet owners with quiet dogs
  • Travelers wanting river access and quiet surroundings

We’d recommend skipping it if:

  • You have a very large rig and are not comfortable maneuvering it
  • You want luxury or lots of space
  • Your dog tends to bark a lot

It’s a good spot if you’re confident with tight turns, like some light socializing, and want to be close to both the Osage River and Lake of the Ozarks.

Booking & Final Thoughts

We paid $214 for a 3-night stay in a Premium Waterfront Back-In site with 50 Amp full hookups. We have stayed in RV parks and campgrounds all over the United States. That’s not a bad price for riverfront camping with a private deck and a solid list of amenities.

The resort offers both nightly and extended stay rates, but if you’re looking for a long-term spot, you’ll need to call them directly at (573) 365-1122 to book since they don’t list extended stays on their online reservation system.

Would we stay here again? Possibly… but only if we were traveling with a smaller rig or staying during a less crowded time of year. The riverfront views and quiet atmosphere are a huge plus but the tight site layout and limited space around the rig were definite drawbacks for our 44′ fifth wheel.

That said, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly, event-filled, pet-welcoming basecamp near Lake of the Ozarks, Ozarks Landing could be a great fit!

Nearby Attractions

One of the best parts about staying at Ozarks Landing is its proximity to Lake of the Ozarks. You’re tucked into a quieter riverside spot but are still close to all the action. It makes for a great basecamp if you’re planning to explore the area.
