If you know Morgan, you know she tends to be cold – especially since Alan likes to keep the thermostat set to 66°F… if the heat is even turned on at all.
So Morgan is no stranger to heated apparel. In fact, she already has a heated jacket from another manufacturer. But let’s get on to this review of the Venustas Heated Vests.
Last fall, Morgan received an email from the Sales & Marketing Manager at Venustas. He asked if we would write a review of their gear if they sent us some heated vests. We said yes with the caveat that we would write an HONEST REVIEW of their products – good, bad, or ugly.
So here goes!
Venustas had no control over the content of this post.
Overview of Venustas
While this brand is newer to the market than some of the other heated apparel companies, they have a wide array of products.
- Heated Vests
- Heated Jackets
- Heated Hoodies
- Heated Gloves
- Heated Socks
- Heated Children’s Apparel
- Heated Chairs – yes, you read that correctly. In fact, Morgan loved her vest so much that she bought a heated chair. Coco loves it almost as much as her mom.

PRO TIP: These products are fantastic but they can be expensive. Use Venustas coupon code: MORGANMIDDLETON for 20% off.
They also have different materials to choose between with the vests, hoodies, and jackets. Some are warmer than others. Some are bulkier than others.
With that in mind, this review will be specific to the two heated vests we have.

Venustas Men’s Heated Vest
Alan has the Men’s Classic Heated Vest 7.4V. We love both the material and fit.
Colors: Harbon Blue, Navy, Grey, Dark Grey
Sizes: S – 5XL
Venustas Women’s Heated Vest

Morgan has the Women’s Heated Fleece Vest 7.4V. While this vest does it’s job well, the material is not Morgan’s first choice since both she and Coco shed… A LOT.
Colors: Black, Grey, Burgundy, Blue, Navy, White, Black/Red Plaid
Sizes: XS – 4XL
Key Features of the Venustas Heated Vests
Heating Zones
The heated vests have 6 heating zones:
- Upper Back – large area
- Each Shoulder
- Each Hand Pocket
- Neck / Collar
These vests focus on all the right areas. Keeping your torso, hands, and neck toasty.
Battery Life & Performance
Our vests both came with a rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery (4800 mAh, 7.4V) and the UBS-C cord to recharge. The battery does add some weight to the vest but you get used to it pretty quickly.
How Long Does the Battery Last?
We have used the vests in temperatures between 10°F and 55°F and do notice that the battery life does appear shorter in colder temperatures.
- Low Heat (100°F): 8-9 hours
- Medium Heat (113°F): 5-6 hours
- High Heat (131°F): 2.5-3 hours

Charging the Battery
The battery takes around 4-5 hours to fully charge.
Since we spend a lot of time outdoors, sometimes 10+ hours a day, we had a couple choices. Either conserve the battery as much as possible, go without the heating element for parts of the day, or have backup batteries to switch out if we need to.
Since we have multiple things that operate off these batteries (you can charge other things like your cell phone too), we chose to buy a couple extras.
Recommendation: buy a spare battery!
Location of the Battery Pocket
You access the zippered battery pocket on the inside of the vest.
The pocket is around waist-height on the back/side of the vest. The battery does not interfere if you are sitting down or leaning against anything. After wearing the vest for a little while, you forget the battery is there.
Operation
This part is honestly pretty easy and relatively similar to the other heated apparel brands.
Step 1 – Turning on the Heating Element:
Hold the button on the left chest for 3-4 seconds until the light starts flashing slowly.
Step 2 – Wait!
The light will continue to flash while the vest begins to heat. This typically takes anywhere from 1-3 minutes depending on the external temperature.
Once the light stops flashing and turns a solid color (white), the vest is operating.
Step 3 – Toggle through Heat Settings (if desired)
When you initially turn the vest on, it goes to medium heat (the logo is white). If you want to change to a different heat level, press the button. Each time you press the button, it will move to the next heat setting.
- Low Heat (100°F): Blue
- Medium Heat (113°F): White
- High Heat (131°F): Red

Step 4 – Turning off the Heating Element:
Hold the button on the left chest for 3-4 seconds until the light turns off.
Fit & Design
Ok, so this part may depend on how you like to layer clothing.
Alan loves the fit of his vest. He can wear a long sleeve shirt and a hoodie underneath. He has also worn his Carhartt over top – that didn’t last long though because he said it made him TOO HOT!
Morgan’s vest is a little big – possibly too big. She is able to wear multiple thick layers under her vest and can wear a larger jacket over it. While that gives her plenty of options, the vest does work more effectively if it has tighter contact with your body.

For example, when we were riding in our RZR and leaning against the seats, the back piece felt like it was giving off more heat even though the temperature output didn’t change.
Recommendation: Pick a size that will allow you to put a base layer or two underneath. You can always add a coat on top!
TL;DR more contact = better heat
Machine Washable
We hang out by the firepit a lot while RVing (aka all the time). While we love a good campfire, the smell of smoke in our clothes, especially something fleece, is no bueno.
Morgan is not a fan of hand-washing clothes. If it isn’t machine washable, she will not buy it. So this was an absolute must in Morgan’s book.
We have washed our vests multiple times and they both still look brand new!
Just don’t forget to remove the battery AND zip the battery pocket before washing.
Pro Tip: Use a laundry garment bag to make sure you do not damage any of the internal wires in the heating elements.
Warranty
So far we haven’t needed it and hopefully we won’t. But we would much rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
Battery: 1 year
Heating Elements: 3 years
Performance: Real-World Use
As we mentioned before, we have used the vests in a variety of temperatures, washed them multiple times, and are thrilled with the results.
We wore our vests multiple times while we were camping in Pigeon Forge because it was COLD!
Two other couples were camping with us; they tried out Morgan’s chair and our vests and were all pleasantly surprised by how much heat they put out.

On this evening, we were waiting in line (2-3 hours!) for the Skyland Ranch Wild Stallion Mountain Coaster. Everyone was asking about our vests since we were “glowing”.
In fact, several people offered to buy them off us since they were freezing and we were toasty.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- It keeps you warm! For a relatively small layer, it helps a lot.
- It is really easy to use.
- It is machine washable.
Cons
- It is something else to charge.
- The heat setting light is bright when it is dark out.
- They are not fully waterproof. Yeah, this is on here because we couldn’t come up with any other great cons...
Ultimately, we think the pros far outweigh the cons!

Final Thoughts: Are the Venustas Heated Vests Worth It?
Yes! Since we live in an RV, we have limited storage. These vests do not take up a ton of space and they can be layered. In fact, Morgan has even worn her vest without the battery in it during slightly warmer temperatures.
